Uhhhhh so I painted that old @hamiltonwoodtype cab

Uhhhhh so I painted that old @hamiltonwoodtype cabinet I picked up in Indiana. Wiped out lots of spider eggs and mouse poo, then did some wiping, sanding, more cleaning, painters tape, primer, and paint. Staying very on visual identity with my million shades of green and trying something new by applying the diagonal to an object.

Another new acquisition: a complete set of wood ty

Another new acquisition: a complete set of wood type with upper and lower case letters, numbers, and punctuation. Smells a little like wet barn so I have some cleaning to do. With this maybe it finally feels like I have a letterpress studio. 🥲

Drove all the way back to Indiana to pick up my ve

Drove all the way back to Indiana to pick up my very first type cabinet (@hamiltonwoodtype) from @americansalvageco. This will be a huge upgrade from a few type cases stacked on the floor under furniture and actually fits in my apartment.

Remember the flat files I drove out to Virginia for and then drove back to North Carolina…twice? Well I had to drag those to Virginia too hahah ugh. 🫠
There was a lot of deadlifting and swearing to get them into the truck with a friend and then somehow I backed up the truck with two fingers to spare. Then by myself some more deadlifting across the whole truck and some more deadlifting across a gap and some more deadlifting onto a cart and some more deadlifting off the cart. Also a lot of swearing and questioning all the decisions leading up to the task. Twice. To get them into my storage unit. Hahah. 🙃

One of the new additions to the new new new studio

One of the new additions to the new new new studio: P22 Blox by @p22typefoundry / @insta.dry.inc. These type high injection molded geometric glyphs have been on my want to buy list since I got my grubby little paws on a Line-O-Scribe, but I finally got ‘em. (Also got a little bit of lead, some pica rulers, and a couple more quoins.) Very excited to play with these once I’m done unpacking.

“It’ll be fun!” I said when I first got into

“It’ll be fun!” I said when I first got into letterpress…until I moved hahahahah. 🫠 In the last two years I acquired more type and equipment which made this move more difficult than the previous, but I survived deadlifting a lot of things.
Also I now own 3 @milwaukeetool hand trucks hahah.
Biggest lesson: I regret not packing more lead into boxes. I thought removing half of a type case would reduce the weight enough, because it would have taken so much more time to pack all of it up. (I don’t have a cabinet, but a few cases stacked on casters.)
Excited to unpack everything and including a few new things to the third iteration of my home printmaking studio. And then finally getting back to pulling prints.
